Job description

The Internal Audit Investigations Specialist supports internal audit investigations, providing timely and independent assurance while helping strengthen the organization’s control environment. The role involves supporting investigations from initial assessment through closure, including evidence gathering, interviews, analysis, documentation, and reporting. The position works closely with Internal Audit, Legal & Compliance, Human Resources, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, triage, and escalate allegations in line with internal procedures and applicable requirements.

  • Conduct assigned investigations, including interviews, evidence collection, analysis, and documentation.

  • Prepare clear, accurate, and objective investigation reports.

  • Perform quality checks on investigation documentation and processes.

  • Identify trends, recurring issues, and potential control weaknesses.

  • Report investigation progress and key findings to relevant management.

  • Ensure relevant legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements are considered.

  • Support management in developing action plans to address control weaknesses.

  • Build effective relationships with Internal Audit, Legal & Compliance, HR, and business stakeholders.

  • Promote awareness and appropriate use of whistleblowing and reporting channels.

  • Contribute to investigation best practices and knowledge sharing.

  • Support reporting on investigation activities and key findings.
     

Business & Risk Knowledge

  • Develop an understanding of key business processes, risks, and controls.

  • Monitor emerging risks and changes in the business risk profile.

  • Review relevant business and management information.

  • Maintain and develop relevant professional knowledge.
     

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Investigations, HR, Employee Relations, or a similar control-related function.

  • Experience with investigations, interviews, fact-finding, or control assessments is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

  • Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgement.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to manage sensitive situations and work under pressure.

  • Strong listening and interviewing skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.

  • Experience with Excel, Power BI, or other data analysis tools is an advantage.

  • Relevant qualifications such as CIA, CPA, CFE, or CCI are an advantage.

  • Excellent Japanese communication skills.

  • Business-level English, ideally CEFR B2 or above, is an advantage.
