Bilingual Technical Lead (Medical Systems) (#551)

We are seeking an experienced Bilingual Technical Lead to lead the design and development of medical software systems for a leading customer in Japan. This position is based near Odawara, Japan, and requires close collaboration with customer stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and offshore development teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in Medical System Design & Development, Backend System Development (using any programming language), and Desktop Application Development (using any programming language). The candidate will be responsible for technical leadership, solution design, project coordination, and ensuring successful delivery while maintaining compliance with customer expectations and industry standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of medical software systems from requirement analysis through deployment.
• Analyse customer requirements and convert them into technical design specifications.
• Design scalable and maintainable backend systems and desktop applications.
• Collaborate with customer teams, business stakeholders, QA teams, and offshore development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development teams.
• Review software design, code quality, and technical deliverables to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Coordinate project planning, effort estimation, task allocation, and progress tracking.
• Identify technical risks and proactively recommend mitigation strategies.
• Participate in customer meetings and provide technical updates, solution proposals, and project status reports.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support timely resolution of customer escalations.
• Mentor and guide developers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
• Ensure software quality, performance, security, and maintainability throughout the development lifecycle.
• Drive continuous improvement by recommending new technologies, development practices, and process enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable medical software development standards and customer quality requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in software design and development.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering enterprise software solutions.
• Experience in customer-facing projects, preferably with Japanese customers, is highly preferred.

Language Proficiency

• JLPT N3 or above with strong verbal and written Japanese communication skills.
• Good English communication skills for collaboration with global and offshore teams.

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in Medical System Design and Development.
• Hands-on experience in Backend System Development using any modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, C++, Python, Go, etc.).
• Experience in Desktop Application Development using any programming language or framework.
• Strong understanding of SDLC.
• Experience with software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented design principles.
• Familiarity with Git, SVN.
• Agile/Waterfall.
• Testing, debugging, optimization.
• JIRA/Azure DevOps is an advantage.
• Knowledge of medical software standards is a plus.
