Middleware Engineer / Middleware Lead (#536)

We are supporting our client in hiring a Middleware Engineer / Middleware Lead who will be responsible for providing technical support and operational leadership for the middleware environment, mainly Web Application Server (WAS) and IBM MQ.

The role will focus on middleware engineering, production operations, vendor management, system stability improvement, and supporting middleware-related projects. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams, external service providers, and global IT stakeholders to ensure reliable and efficient IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and administration for middleware platforms including IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), IBM MQ, Tomcat, and IIS.
• Manage daily middleware engineering and operational activities.
• Monitor system performance, identify improvement areas, and implement operational enhancements.
• Lead troubleshooting activities, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and resolve production incidents.
• Manage internal teams and external service vendors supporting middleware operations.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to middleware engineers.
• Support middleware-related projects as an IT Project Lead / Technical Lead.
• Collaborate with global IT teams to optimize system releases and production go-live activities.
• Review technical requirements, perform gap analysis, and support solution design discussions.
• Drive automation initiatives using scripting and infrastructure improvement practices.
• Support management with operational planning, reporting, budgeting, and stability improvement initiatives.
• Manage middleware assets, licenses, and infrastructure inventory.

Required Experience

• 8+ years of IT experience in middleware engineering, infrastructure engineering, or production operations.
• 2+ years of experience in technical team leadership or staff management.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
  • IBM MQ / MQSeries
  • Tomcat / IIS
  • Cloud environments (IaaS / PaaS / SaaS)
  • CI/CD
  • Docker / container technologies
