Senior Japanese Bilingual POS Software Engineer (#530)

The candidate will act as a technical domain expert for retail POS engagements with Japanese clients, responsible for requirement analysis, technical discussions in Japanese, coordination with offshore development teams in India, and supporting POS application development and platform engineering. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on POS development experience, retail domain knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both Japanese clients and offshore teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements from Japanese client teams.
• Serve as the technical bridge between onsite Japanese stakeholders and offshore engineering teams.
• Lead POC initiatives to demonstrate POS and retail technology capabilities.
• Design, develop, customize, and enhance POS applications covering transaction processing, payment integration, and store operations.
• Analyze POS architecture, system integrations, and modernization opportunities.
• Support implementation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution activities.
• Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, project updates, and product demonstrations.
• Provide technical input for pre-sales and business development activities.
• Guide offshore teams on POS domain knowledge and retail processes.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in POS software development, implementation, or retail technology consulting.
• Strong understanding of POS workflows, retail operations, and store systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java (Java SE 8+) for POS application development.
• Knowledge of C/C++ for POS terminals or embedded systems is an advantage.
• Experience gathering requirements and conducting technical discussions with customers.
• Working-level English communication skills for offshore coordination.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with POS peripheral integration standards such as OPOS and JavaPOS.
• Knowledge of enterprise POS platforms such as IBM 4690 OS, ACE, or similar systems.
• Experience with cloud-based POS architecture, microservices, and REST APIs.
• Understanding of payment integrations, loyalty systems, and retail protocols.
• Experience with POS migration, modernization, or platform consolidation projects.
• Experience working in onsite-offshore delivery models with Japanese clients.
• Strong technical documentation and knowledge transfer skills.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
