Job description
Main Responsibilities
-
Estimate testing effort based on requirements and test strategies, create test plans, and update them as needed throughout the project lifecycle.

Select appropriate testing methods based on the defined test strategy to ensure effective testing (types of tests, methodologies, automation, tools, etc.).

Participate in product backlog review/requirements review meetings to clarify user stories and requirements early, providing insights from a tester’s perspective.

Define tasks required for test preparation and execution for each requirement, including the expected results.

Identify and execute system integration test scenarios and test cases based on the test strategy.

Review system test cases and results provided by developers (including external vendors).

Document identified defects and issues using communication or defect management systems.

Provide regular test progress reports.

Promote test automation for regression testing, and maintain test cases and automation scripts for reuse.

Collaborate with the team to determine which tests should be automated, at which level, and with which tools.

Conduct project retrospectives and execute the PDCA cycle.
Required Skills & Experience
-
4+ years of software development or testing experience
-
5+ years of project experience in a life insurance company (software development or testing)
-
Experience as a team leader in projects or software maintenance (development or testing teams)
-
Experience in Agile development (development or testing)
-
Japanese language proficiency at JLPT N2 or above

English proficiency (reporting & conversation)
Preferred Skills

Experience in developing and executing test strategies and test plans

Experience with test automation (e.g., Playwright or other tools)

Experience using test management tools or performance/security testing tools

Experience in mainframe development or testing
