Job description

The Service Transition Manager is a key role within the IT Service Management (ITSM) framework, tasked with ensuring the seamless transition of new or updated services from development and testing to live production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans for transitioning new or modified services
  • Collaborate with project managers, development teams, and stakeholders to align transition activities with project goals and timelines
  • Partner with the Change Management team to evaluate and approve changes to the production environment
  • Ensure that changes are thoroughly documented, tested, and approved prior to deployment
  • Mitigate risks associated with changes and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders
  • Oversee the efficient deployment of services or changes while minimizing impacts on existing operations
  • Work with release managers and deployment teams to schedule and execute releases
  • Establish and maintain a knowledge repository for service transition processes, documentation, and best practices
  • Provide training and support to IT teams on transition protocols
  • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure smooth service transitions
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to evaluate outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with project teams, IT operations, and business units
  • Provide regular updates on transition progress and address stakeholder concerns
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with service transitions
  • Develop strategies to minimize potential disruptions to service delivery
  • Regularly assess and refine service transition processes based on performance metrics, feedback, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with other ITSM functions to enhance overall service delivery

Qualifications and Skills:

  •  Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years in IT service management, with proven success in managing service transition projects
  • Strong understanding of ITSM principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in tools and technologies relevant to service transition
  • ITIL certification (preferred)
